The idea

Idle Brick Empire started as a short note:

Discover an island. Start digging sand by hand, automate processes and unlock new things. The island grows with the sand. Improve production with more workers, machinery, tools and materials; level workers up. Later: forests, caves, an empire.
Mateo and Miguel

Everything on this site, and everything in the game, comes from those lines.

The game

You land on a tiny sand island with two workers and a shovel. You dig, you hire and the island grows. The plan goes from sand to wood, then bricks and, one day, an empire.

It is an idle game: your workers keep digging while the game is closed, and the sand is waiting when you come back.

How it should feel

  • Played with one hand, in two minutes, on the train and with no signal.
  • There is always a goal on screen and something to tap.
  • Nothing is lost and nothing expires.
  • Press and hold anything, even the sea, and it has something to say.
  • Workers jump when you tap them, crabs walk along the shore and seagulls cross the sky.

Where it is today

The game is a work in progress. The first phase (dig, hire, expand, upgrade and collect what was dug while you were away) is in early testing. It is not in the App Store or on Google Play yet.

Who makes it

Idle Brick Empire is an independent game, developed and published by Miguel Puig in the United Kingdom. It is made with Unity.

Its world is drawn in one cartoon style, with thick brown outlines and flat colours, and its interface uses the peach, mint and cream you see on this page.
